Sonia
Bryman
Sonia started dancing in Long Beach,
CA at the age of 4 at a local studio called EJO Dance Company, traihere she
began to student teach and choreograph for the annual dance shows and was
captain of the varsity cheer squad while still training, competing, performing
and teaching at a private studio. After graduation Sonia began teaching and
choreographing full time for Wilson high school and training with Keith Clifton
in Huntington Beach as a company member as well as commuting to LA for classes
with top choreographers. In 2000 Sonia began assisting Corey Burrell and Robert
Schultz at the EDGE Performing Arts Center and performing in stage shows such
as the Key Club’s Alice in Wonderland and Halloween carnival Choreographers
Ball. Sonia was also a back-up dancer for Christian pop artist Gregory Scott
at the LA Music Awards and was a snowflake for the Disneyland Christmas Parade,
and was an extra in the television series American Dreams.
Since
teaching at the Dance Co. in 2000 she has choreographed hundreds of group
numbers, solos and duets for the studio and for all the local high schools.
She has taught master classes all over Northern California and in Hawaii,
performed at fashion shows and promotional events for companies such as: Yoga
and You, Foot Locker, and Healthy Living.com, taught at Bally’s Total
Fitness as an assistant to Columbus Short as well as teaching her own group
hip-hop classes.
Now,
at the Dance Co., Sonia teaches Ballet, Tap, Combo, Advanced Jazz, Elite Performing
Group, Theatre Dance and Turns and Leaps. Sonia’s pieces for the dance
company have received many awards and recognition at many competitions, and
invited to nationals for the National Showstoppers Dance Competition. Teaching
at the Dance Co. has given Sonia many opportunities to use her creative will
and feels that there is no other studio she would rather be part of. The family
atmosphere and supportiveness of all the members of this establishment has
meant the world to Sonia and hopes to continue to be part of the Dance Co.
for many years to come.
